  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to doโ€ฆ

Where to go Strawberry Picking in Brisbane

Last updated: July 25, 2026
Strawberry picking

We are so lucky here in Brisbane – there are strawberry fields in every direction however not all of them offer a “pick your own” option. For a few years now, we have seen a reduction in the number of big commercial strawberry farms and more recently winter rains that have reduced production impacting the usual pick your own strawberry experience.

So what does this even mean for strawberry picking?ย

It means that some strawberry farms do still offer PYO, but not every weekend, not even all day sometimes. Just until they run out and you need to do your homework before you go.

You won’t see us promoting individual strawberry farms on Facebook or Instagram anymore because we don’t want to send you somewhere and disappoint you, or frustrate the farmers. But what we can do is share each strawberry farm that we know that does offer PYO from time to time and you can follow their socials and find out for yourselves.

When is the strawberry season in Brisbane?

The main strawberry picking season in Brisbane is between May and October. Strawberry picking is a lovely way to get out into the winter sunshine and is an activity that kids of all ages will find fun and rewarding.ย

Remember to check out your local farms for their specific strawberry season dates and open times – they will often publish info on their websites but also increasingly just on Facebook as PYO windows reduce.

Pick your own strawberries for fun and food!

Before you arrive at the strawberry farm, have a plan – what do you want to do with the strawberries you plan to pick? Strawberries make the perfect gift, whether to a neighbour, family, friends or a teacher OR you just include it in your children’s lunchboxes for the following week. You will find the strawberries you pick yourselves taste better and last longer than berries you would buy in a supermarket.

Where you can pick your own strawberries in Brisbane?

(potentially)

These are the closest strawberry farms to Brisbane where you can pick your own strawberries throughout the season.

Rolin Farms

Where: 124-190 Rutters Road, Elimbah

Rolin Farms is open during the strawberry season from around June to October each year. During this time, you can purchase already-picked strawberries, as well as a range of different strawberry products and local honey. Pick Your Own season opportunities at Rolin Farms vary from August to September annually.

Chambers Flat Strawberry Farm

Where: 912 Chambers Flat Road, Chambers Flat

Chambers Flat Strawberry Farm‘s Pick Your Own times vary but if they happen will take place in the second half of the year (they do this by bookings on their website). They do offer fresh strawberries and freshly churned strawberry icecream during strawberry seasons.

Oasis Berries

Where: 434 Bribie Island Road, Caboolture

Oasis Berries is one of the closest strawberry fields to Brisbane, and is generally open in September and October. The pick your own season is always announced on their social media page, and invites visitors to not only pick their own strawberries, but also sample some delicious fruit as you go. Their famous hippo treasure hunt is always a fun incentive, as is the promise of delicious strawberry treats afterwards โ€“ slushies, cupcakes, ice cream and chocolate strawberries.

Sweet Acres

Where: 165 Newlands Road, Wamuran

Sweet Acres is open for pick your own in September each year. Guests will discover sweet, juicy, and impressively large strawberries, grown from unique varieties that arenโ€™t found in supermarkets or on commercial farms. Some of these strawberries can grow bigger than a childโ€™s hand! Arriving early gives visitors the best chance to pick the biggest berries, but the smaller ones are just as delicious and full of flavour. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for exact PYO dates.

Our tips for an amazing strawberry picking experience

  • You cannot eat strawberries as you pick them. With this in mind, share this news with the kids beforeย you get to the strawberry fields. If you wait until you get there, we found that the kids were so excited by what they saw that all rules went in one ear and out the other.
  • Wear gumboots if possible or prepare for dirty shoes.
  • Bring a dirty shoe bag to put in dirty gumboots and shoes before you get back in the car (you will thank us for this one later!).
  • If it is a sunny day, wear hats. Aside from sun safety, strawberry picking can be hard work!
  • Get there early. If you get there at the beginning of the day you will find the rows of strawberries yet to be picked
  • Follow the instructionsย to ensure everyone has a safe and fun time.
  • Wash your strawberries before you eat them!ย
  • Many (if not all) of the strawberry fields offer their own special strawberry ice cream using freshly picked strawberries. Take an esky so you can take some home with you.

Strawberry Festivals

If you can’t get enough of the humble red berry, then you are in luck! South East Queensland plays hosts to a number of strawberry events annually where you are sure to get more strawberries than you can handle!

Redfest Strawberry Festival

RedFest Strawberry Festival is an annual music and cultural festival held in September in Cleveland, just 25 minutes east of Brisbane on beautiful Moreton Bay. Kids are KING with a venue and program just for them, Sideshow alley, spectacular fireworks, the world famous Strawberry Eating Competition and the illuminating Lantern Parade.

The Ekka

It wouldn’t be the Ekka without an iconic strawberry sundae! With around 140,000 icecreams sold annually at every Ekka, the tradition of the Ekka strawberry sundae is one not to be missed.

Stanthorpe Berry Festival

Slightly further afield, the Stanthorpe Berry Festival is held in November annually (after a 2025 cancellation, the next event will be in November 2026). Families make the trip every year to enjoy juicy fruit, interactive experiences, local markets, and an incredible mix of live music, entertainment, and family-friendly fun.

Strawberry Picking in Queensland

Of course, there are many more strawberry farms throughout Queensland that are worth visiting if you’re up for a longer road trip! Check out our detailed guide to Pick Your Own Strawberries Queensland here.
